~~~ Teen Art Camp - Art Experience for Young Adults
~~~
Eureka Artist, Wanda Mumm, will be conducting her Montana Art Experience workshop for young adults this June in Eureka. Mumm conducts art workshops for adults in East Glacier, Dubois, Wyoming and on cruise ships. The art workshop, now in its 12th year, is for young adults aged 16-22, and is geared toward students who wish to pursue expanding their art experiences prior to, or during college. This college-accredited program is granted college credit through Montana State University and is a transferable-type of credit.
This program is an intensive, week-long program designed especially for the young artist who wants to include art in their future. The program covers color theory, composition, drawing and painting techniques for the field and studio, as well as pastel and sculpture experience.
This year’s workshop will be conducted June 16-20, 2008. The classes will take place at Eureka's Creative Arts Center, at the residence of Mumm, and various field locations around Eureka. The sponsoring Susan K. Black Foundation has made it possible to offer scholarships for the workshop. Interested students may apply for the scholarships and recipients will be selected by the board. Students are required to have a recommendation by an art teacher, artist or a member of the Susan K. Black Foundation’s artist group.
The scholarship will be a partial scholarship, leaving only $250 as the balance for the week's workshop fee and additional funds are available to cover this remaining balance. The normal fee for the workshop without a scholarship is $650. The workshop fee covers instruction, a few meals, sculpture and pastel supplies. The students will need to bring their own paints, brushes, canvases, drawing materials and items for field days. Class size will be limited.
Artist Lauri Olson of Saint Paul, Minnesota will be traveling to Montana to work with the workshop’s students. The workshop will be a great time to work on art and enjoy being with other artistic people who like to paint and work in a group environment. Students will learn new techniques and styles while having a fun in a supportive, energetic environment.
Interested students should contact Director Wanda Mumm at 406-889-5187.
